Zero Data Collection

Lanix is a network device management application that enables users to remotely control and monitor devices on their local network using Wake-on-LAN (WOL) technology and secure API connections. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our app.

Our Privacy Promise

Lanix is designed with privacy in mind. All device management happens locally on your network. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data or device information to external servers. Your privacy is not just respected—it's technically guaranteed by our local-only architecture.

Information We Do NOT Collect

Lanix does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

  • Personal information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
  • Device information (IP addresses, MAC addresses, device names)
  • Network configuration details
  • Usage analytics or telemetry
  • Location data
  • Crash reports or diagnostic data
  • Authentication tokens or credentials

How Lanix Works

Lanix operates entirely within your local network:

  • Local Network Only: All communication happens between your iOS device and devices on your local network
  • No External Servers: We do not operate any servers that collect or store your data
  • Direct Connections: The app connects directly to your Lanix Helper servers or sends WOL packets to devices
  • Local Storage: Device configurations are stored only on your iOS device using Apple's secure storage mechanisms

Data Storage on Your Device

Lanix stores the following information locally on your iOS device only:

  • Device configurations (names, IP addresses, MAC addresses)
  • Authentication tokens (stored securely in iOS Keychain)
  • App preferences and settings

This information never leaves your device except to communicate directly with devices on your local network.

Network Communications

Lanix communicates with devices on your network in the following ways:

  • Wake-on-LAN: Sends UDP packets to wake up devices (no data collection)
  • Managed Devices: HTTPS connections to your Lanix Helper servers for device control and monitoring
  • QR Code Pairing: Scans QR codes locally on your device to configure connections

All communications are encrypted when using HTTPS connections and include certificate pinning for enhanced security.

Permissions and Access

Lanix requires the following permissions to function:

  • Camera Access: To scan QR codes for device pairing (processed locally, not stored)
  • Local Network Access: To communicate with devices on your network
  • Keychain Access: To securely store authentication tokens on your device

You can revoke these permissions at any time through iOS Settings.

Third-Party Services

Lanix does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection services. The app is completely self-contained.

Data Security

We implement several security measures:

  • Authentication tokens are stored in iOS Keychain (encrypted)
  • HTTPS connections use certificate pinning
  • No data is transmitted to external servers
  • All network communications are local to your network

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Since the app doesn't collect data, changes would typically relate to clarifications or new features that maintain our privacy-first approach.

Your Rights

Since Lanix doesn't collect or store personal data on external servers, traditional data rights (access, deletion, etc.) don't apply. However, you can:

  • Delete the app to remove all locally stored data
  • Clear app data through iOS Settings
  • Revoke permissions at any time
  • View and modify device configurations within the app
